monadnock home opportunities

Vacant lots at resident-owned communities provide affordable housing opportunities in New Hampshire’s Monadnock Region.

Across the region, rising rent costs and home prices are putting safe, stable, housing out of reach for too many people, including those with low incomes, younger people, and retired people with fixed incomes. If you’re struggling with housing costs, there may be a solution waiting for you in one of the vacant lots in the area’s resident-owned communities (ROCs).

Take just three minutes to watch this video, produced with grant funding from the Monadnock United Way, about empty home lots where high-quality, energy-efficient homes could be placed.

Call (603) 856-0708 if you have questions or you want to get started!

What is a ROC?

ROCs (resident-owned communities) are manufactured-home parks that are owned and run cooperatively by the people who live there.

What are my options for buying a manufactured home?

  • You can purchase an existing home.
  • You can purchase a new, high-quality, energy-efficient, factory-made house. Single-wide homes start at around $80,000, and double-wide homes start at approximately $110,000. Either option will probably cost less than renting or buying a similarly sized home.

Contact ROC-NH New Home Specialist Alan Blake at (603) 856-0708 or ablake@rocnh.org for more information and assistance. Alan can walk you through your options and put you in touch with home manufacturers/sellers and with the board of a local ROC to identify a lot that suits you.

Where are the resident-owned communities in the Monadnock Region? And, are there any vacant lots?
