Finance Associate

The Finance Associate is primarily responsible for processing all incoming funds- including donations, grants, borrower payments, and other revenue streams- while ensuring compliance with GAAP and organizational revenue recognition policies. Coordinates with program teams to ensure timely, accurate, and well documented revenue activity.

Reports To: Controller

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Design and Creative Production 

  • Records all incoming funds into the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, in accordance with existing accounting procedures and revenue recognition policies;
  • Coordinates with Credit Administration, Philanthropy, and other program areas as needed to ensure all cash receipts are properly documented, coded, and recorded;
  • Prepares program invoicing and ensures timely distribution;
  • Maintains assigned balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation;
  • Assists with audit preparation, including the compilation of supporting documentation and the preparation of assigned audit schedules;
  • Works closely with Credit Administration and Lending Programs to manage borrower payment functions and support related activities;
  • Coordinates with Philanthropy to ensure accurate recording of donations, pledges, and fundraising activity;
  • Provides responsive support to program areas regarding revenue, receivables, and documentation needs;
  • Performs month-end closing activities, including preparation and entry of assigned monthly journal entries;
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements;
  • Opens and closes bank accounts as needed; maintains bank relationship files; updates bank account signatories and ensures proper documentation is maintained;
  • Coordinates with Finance leadership on banking-related administrative tasks;
  • Supports continuous improvement of revenue processes, documentation, and workflows;
  • Cross-trains with other Finance team members to ensure continuity of operations;
  • Provides backup support for the Staff Accountant as needed;
  • Assumes special projects and duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Accounting; Bachelor’s Degree preferred; and
  • Five years of accounting experience or equivalent; nonprofit experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines; organized and systematic;
  • Demonstrated technology skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven collaboration skills;
  • Excellent analytical skills with an eye toward creating efficiencies and continuous quality improvements;
  • Ability to effect change in collaboration with diverse groups;
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities; and
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hand to finger, handle, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Specific vision abilities required in this job include the ability to adjust focus between near and far.

  • Ability to answer telephones and use standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.);
  • Ability to read, write, and understand and speak English clearly;
  • Ability to use a computer for Community Loan Fund business;
  • Ability to travel as necessary and work some evenings and weekends; and
  • Ability to lift at least five pounds.

 

Employment Details

  • Location: Concord, NH and hybrid (in office Tuesday and Wednesday; training will be in person)
  • Salary range: $65,000 to $75,000
