Loan Closing Specialist

The Loan Closing Specialist is responsible for managing and executing all activities required to prepare, coordinate, and complete single-family mortgage loan closings.  This role requires a high level of accuracy, independent judgment, and knowledge of loan documentation, regulatory requirements, and internal program criteria. 

The Specialist collaborates closely with the Single-family housing team, Finance, Compliance and Servicing teams to ensure timely, compliant, and high-quality closings. This position also provides backup support and cross-functional duties to enhance closings workflows and organizational processes.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Development Operations

  • Manage the full pipeline of loan files that are cleared to close, ensuring accuracy, compliance and readiness.
  • Prepare accurate closing disclosures and all closing documentation with attention to regulatory timelines and internal requirements within Loan Operating System (Byte).
  • Coordinate directly with settlement agents, real estate professionals. and borrowers to confirm closing logistics and resolve document issues.
  • Validate borrower assets, income, and credit conditions required prior to closing and identify discrepancies requiring follow-up or correction.
  • Ensure all loan-level information and documentation is complete and accurately uploaded to the electronic file system.
  • Perform final quality control reviews on closing packages prior to funding authorization.
  • Process loan servicing export files and prepare information for the loan sub-servicer.
  • Follow up on post-closing items to ensure servicing and compliance requirements are met.
  • Work closely with Finance to coordinate all funding activities, wire requests, and loan transmittals.
  • Process Paid-In-Full including payoff verification, documentation accuracy review, and communication with servicing partners to ensure timely and compliant loan satisfaction.
  • Serve as a resource for other team members; cross train in complementary functions and provide back up support as needed.
  • Provide back up support for collecting conditions to clear a loan file to close, including verifying applicant assets, credit and employment.
  • Respond to borrower and partner inquiries regarding loan documentation, closing requirements, and application questions.
  • Utilize loan origination software, closing systems, and document management tools to support accurate and efficient closing process.
  • Participate in workflow redesign Initiatives, contributing subject matter expertise to scale operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Perform related duties to advance Community Loan Fund strategies, lending goals, and program success.
     

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in mortgage lending, loan closing, banking, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in reviewing loan disclosures and closing documentation
  • Experience with loan origination software (Byte) and digital documentation systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

  • Ability to answer telephones and use standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.);
  • Ability to read, write, and understand and speak English clearly;
  • Ability to use a computer for Community Loan Fund business;
  • Ability to lift at least five pounds.

Employment Details

  • Location: Concord, NH and hybrid (in office Tuesday and Wednesday; training will be in person)
  • Starting Range: $60,000-$65,000
